Kate WolfTreasures Left Behind: Remembering Kate Wolf
A Tribute Album
Produced by Nina Gerber Released 1998
Red House Records
Before she died of leukemia in 1986 at the young age of 44, singer and songwriter Kate
Wolf had criss-crossed North America for fifteen years performing some of the most
remarkable songs of the era. With roots in the golden hills, valleys and
seashores of Northern California, her songs are still vibrant and healing...simple yet
profound. On this new recording, fourteen artists and admirers pay tribute to Kate
and her music.
Emmylou Harris' rendition of Kate
Wolf's Love Still Remains, on the Kate Wolf tribute album Treasures Left
Behind: Remembering Kate Wolf, received a
1999 Grammy Nomination
for Female Country Vocal Performance. |
| Here's what the fans have to say!
"Contemporary folk can hardly
get better than Emmy Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Dave Alvin, John Gorka, Nanci Griffith,
Greg Brown & Ferron, and others singing the songs of the late Kate Wolf."
Derk Richardson,
San Francisco Chronicle

Liner Notes
To all the artists who donated their time and talent, I thank you so much. What an honor
to have you on this album, and to feel and hear so much care and respect for Kates
music.
Thank you to all the musicians who played and sang on this album, making the recording
process as enjoyable as the listening. To my favorite engineer, Gary Mankin, words couldn't describe my gratitude and admiration
for all your talent and hard work. So, I'll have to settle for a big thank you. Thanks
also to: Terry Fowler, Jeff Heiman, Barbara Higbie, Phil and Vivian Williams, Nineyear
Wooldridge, Cloud Moss, Karen Almquist, Max Wolf, Carol Campbell, Ticket, everyone at Red
House Records. My deepest appreciation to everyone involved in the making of this album,
thank you.
