Kate Wolf Song Page North
Main Street Looking out my window On the way to the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival, most of us will drive up Main Street through Sebastopol in Sonoma County. The character has changed a lot since Kate lived there: streets are now one way, empty lots are full of tract houses, and the railroad tracks are gone. However, you can still see the big old house that Kate wrote about in North Main Street. The dark red Victorian sits above Main Street across from Safeway on the northern end just before 116 curves to the left. This is one of the first songs that Kate composed, and will give you an idea of her work at the beginning of her songwriter career. It's also one of the earliest recordings in our archive, and we apologize for the lower quality. However, Kate's family feels that fans will find North Main Street of historical interest. Here is Kate introducing North Main Street on KSRO in 1972.. Listen to an excerpt of North Main Street of The Minstrel from Owl
Productions Archive Tape #402, recorded when Kate was a guest on the Mike Cheehee Show on
KSRO in Santa Rosa, California on October 17, 1972. |
