An Evening In Austin
Concert Video
With Nina Gerber, Ford James, and Randy Sabien
- 75 Minutes
- Hi-Fi Stereo
- Color
- Lyric Booklet
- Available in VHS, Beta, and PAL VHS
Kate's 1985 music hall concert at Austin's PBS station came at the height of her
career, just a few months before she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. It was her first
major television exposure and a great success. The concert was edited for a popular PBS
country/folk music show and broadcast frequently during the following years. Accompanied
by her long-time band members Nina Gerber and Ford James, and special guest Randy Sabien,
Kate delivered a strong performance that remained faithful to her well-known California
folk style. This concert includes Kate's most popular songs, plus two songs never before
released.
Although PBS edited the concert to 25 minutes for broadcast, we've restored the show to
its original 75 minutes. Nina Gerber and Tom Diamant contributed their years of experience
with Kate's music in remixing the 16-track audio master to Hi-Fi stereo for excellent
balance and sound quality. Soundtrack also available.

Liner Notes
Kate performed on Austin City Limits in 1985 at the height of her career, just a few
months before she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. It was her first major television
exposure, and a great success. The show was edited for PBS and broadcast frequently the
following years. Accompanied by her long-time band members Nina Gerber and Ford James,
Kate delivered a strong performance that remained faithful to her Northern California folk
style.
The release of "An Evening in Austin" is a continuance of Kate's music. Although
she is gone, Kate has left a collection of songs and performances that share innermost
thoughts through imagery of life that will be with us for years to come. This concert
recording captures Kate's intimate performing style, and we proudly present it as a
memorial to her.
